Police investigating a robbery in Rugby a week ago are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The incident happened at about 10.45pm on Friday August 16 and involved a 21 year old woman who was walking along a footpath between Wentworth Road and Burnside in the Overslade area of the town. The woman was approached from behind by a male who grabbed her shoulder bag and knocked her to the ground. There was a struggle, resulting in the woman suffering bruising and grazing, before the offender ran off.

He is described as a white male, slim build, approximately 5’4” tall wearing a black hooded jacket with the hood up, black trousers and black footwear.

PC Steve Hill, in the Local Investigations Unit at Rugby, would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the male as he made his way along Westfield Road, Bilton Road, Northcote Road, Lawford Road or Bennett Street.

He would also like to hear from anyone who finds a large blue and brown denim which contained some work boots, a pink purse and personal items.

The offender was in possession of the bag when he was last seen at the junction of Bennett Street.

Anyone with information should contact PC Stephen Hill on 01788 856128 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
