WARWICKSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was killed in a car accident in Stockton last night (Monday).

The collision took place as the woman was driving a white Toyota Yaris car from Stockton Road onto the A426 Rugby Road, just before 7pm.

Her car was in collision with a Volvo V50 estate which was travelling on the A426. The male driver of the Volvo was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries following the collision.

All four approaches to the crossroads were closed to traffic for collision investigators to attend the scene and for recovery of the vehicles. The crossroads reopened at midnight.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and would like to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A426 at shortly before 7pm on Monday evening and who saw the silver Volvo car, which was travelling from the direction of Southam towards Rugby, or anyone on Stockton Road who saw the white Toyota Yaris being driven.

The woman has not yet been named by police.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Major Investigation Unit (Roads) on 01926 415415.
