Police appeal for witnesses after man chased with knife during attempted robbery in Rugby

Warwickshire Police have said they are investigating an attempted robbery in Rugby, which occurred on Sunday, October 9.

The incident happened at about 7.20pm in the park near to The Griffin pub on Kingsway and officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “A man, who was with two others, threatened another man with a knife and told him to empty his pockets.

“The victim and his friend ran off and were chased by the offender into Kingsway Premier Store and Post Office.

“After a brief chase within the store the victims took refuge in an office area and the offender left.

“No-one was injured during the incident and nothing was stolen.

“The offender is described as a white man aged about 25, 5ft 6ins tall, slim to medium build with a dark goatee beard.

“He was wearing a dark Adidas tracksuit top with three stripes down each arm and a dark hood covering his hair, dark trousers, bright blue trainers with white laces.”

Detectives investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who witnessed it, the chase through the park or the store.
