Police are warning Rugby residents about a number of burglaries in and around town

BURGLARS used a sledge hammer to smash their way into a home in Brownsover.

The break-in happened just before 5am on Tuesday this week when offenders used a sledge hammer to get into the house in Skiddaw.

Once inside they searched the property but nothing appears to have been stolen.

At some point before midnight on Saturday thieves entered a home in Murray Road, Rugby through the rear French doors. Once inside, the offenders ransacked the master bedroom and stole a large amount of Asian gold jewellery.

Between 10am and 3pm on Sunday offenders got into a garage of a home in Siskin Close, Rugby through an insecure door whilst the resident of the house was at home. The thieves stole two adult bikes and one child’s bicycle.

During the night of Monday and into Tuesday offenders broke into a wooden shed in the garden of a home in Townsend Road, Rugby. Once inside the shed the offenders stole a black child’s BMX bike and a blue child’s mountain bike.

A police spokesman said: “Please remain alert, on the lookout for suspicious persons, vehicles or activity around your own or neighbouring homes and please report anything of concern to police on 101.”
