Police helicopter used to search for metal thieves in Rugby

Police were called to a disused building in Rugby following a metal theft last night (Sunday).

Officers attended Old Leicester Road in town last night at around 9.30pm after a large quantity of cables were stolen from a disused building.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said that people were seen running away from the scene and that the force helicopter was called to assist with the search for them.

No one was arrested and the metal has not been found.

Inquiries are ongoing.
