Police hunt after attempted robbery in Rugby

A woman walking on her own in Rugby was grabbed by a gang of three teenagers who tried to rob her.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery which took place in Butlers Leap, Rugby on Friday evening (November 1).

A female was walking on her own through the cut through from Boughton Road to Brownsover in Butlers Leap when she met three teenagers at around 6.30pm.

One of them asked her for a cigarette, but she said she did not have any. As she walked away one of the boys grabbed her from behind and twisted her arm behind her back, while another attempted to snatch her handbag.

She managed to escape and ran away. Nothing was stolen.

The three boys are described as being aged approximately 16 years. Two are described as mixed race with one wearing a black baseball cap, a hoodie with the hood up and baggy trousers,

The third was white and was wearing a white cap, a black hoodie and black track suit bottoms with “Voi” written on them in white.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the locality in Butlers Leap on Friday evening and who saw anyone matching these descriptions, or who saw anything suspicious at around 6.30pm.
