OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses to a fire that endangered the lives of three people living in a house in Nelson Way, Rugby.
Sometime between 11pm and 11.30pm on Wednesday a wheelie bin was set alight situated next to a front door on Nelson Way. At the same time another fire was ignited in an out building at the rear of the same house.
The fire did not spread into the house and the three occupants, a female and two children were removed safely after they were alerted to the fire by a passing member of the public.
Temporary Detective Constable Jim Middleton said: “We are treating this as a deliberate act of arson, this fire could have easily spread into the house with dire consequences. We are appealing for any information about this incident at all, or any witnesses to any suspicious behaviour on Nelson Way at that time.”
