Police use Taser and dog on man with axe in Rugby

A police dog and a Taser were used to detain a man who was walking around Rugby with an axe yesterday evening (Tuesday).

The 21-year-old man was arrested in Bridget Street. Police were called to the scene shortly after 5.30pm after members of the public saw the man with the weapon. The man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting a police officer. No-one suffered any serious injuries.

The man was taken into custody for questioning. He has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
