General Election 2019: More than 51,000 Rugbeians have voted - now the counting begins

51,046 Rugbeians have turned out to vote in the 2019 General Election - and the counting is now underway.

The turnout stands at 71 per cent - very similar to the 71.1 per cent recorded in the 2017 election.

As of 12.20am, the votes have been verified and the counting has now begun.

An announcement of the result for the Rugby and Bulkington constituency is expected at around 2am.

The news comes as the exit poll, which has predicted a significant Conservative majority across the country, predicts a 99 per cent or more chance of Conservative MP Mark Pawsey retaining his seat in Rugby.
