Rugby Male Voice Choir will hold a spring concert in aid of The Friends of St Cross.

The charity was honoured at the Pride of Rugby awards on Friday, where they picked up the award for Team of theYear.

Vice Chairman Willy Goldschmidt collected the award on behalf of the Friends and made reference to the successful Diamond Jubilee Appeal, which was backed by the Rugby Advertiser.

He said: “The success of the appeal and the project has been a tremendous team effort with support coming from the local media and from across the community as well as from the hospital management and the staff of the Friends Blood Taking Unit. A very big thank you to all involved.”

And fundraising efforts continue for the Friends, with Rugby Male Voice Choir about to hold a charity concert on Friday, May 20.

The concert starts at 7.30pm in St. George’s Church on St. John’s Avenue and features Mel Green as a returning guest soloist.

Tickets cost £7 and are available from members of the choir, the tea bar in outpatients at St Cross and the Rugby Visitor Centre.

There will also be a free draw, with 10 buy one get one free tickets up for grabs. To enter, email: [email protected] before 5pm on May 18, stating how much the Diamond Jubilee Appeal raised and where you heard or read about the draw.

The winners will be notified on May 19 by email, which they can present at the door to claim their prize.
