A public meeting will be held tonight (Wednesday) to discuss the proposed housing development off Ashlawn Road.

The Hillside and Rokeby Community Association is holding the public meeting on February 12 at Rokeby Primary School, 7pm.

David Wilson Homes want to build up to 1,000 new homes and a primary school on land between Ashlawn Road and the Hillside estate.

The housebuilder has already held a consultation about the plans and says it intends to submit an application in the summer.

Residents have said they will fight the plans and have launched a petition amid concerns about the loss of open space, flooding and traffic concerns.

The association says the aim of the meeting is to decide how to respond to the proposals.
