Pupils help to launch fire safety project

PUPILS from Milverton Primary School helped to launch a fire safety project for young people this month.

The youngsters took a tour of Leamington fire station and took part in a hazard spotting exercise.

They also signed up to be the first Junior Fire Safety Champions for their School.

The project, launched through a £4,500 grant from the Electrical Safety Council (ESC), encourages children to be able to notice potential hazards at home and is part of a drive by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service to keep young people safe from harm.

Ruth Greenhalgh, the service’s community safety officer, said: “We are really pleased to have received funding for this scheme from the ESC.

“The project will now be rolled out to schools across Warwickshire to give young people aged between nine and ten the opportunity to learn more about fire and home safety.”
