Dedication has paid off for Jacob Coleman, who has received his Queen’s Badge Award, the highest award possible in the Boys Brigade.
The award was presented by Rugby Mayor Richard Dodd on behalf of the Brigades Patron, Her Majesty the Queen.
The Queen’s Badge requirements are similar to those of the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award and Jacob has spent over 30 hours as a young leader in the Brigade, helping to run activities for the Anchor Boy section for 5 to 8 year olds. He has also spent over 30 hours in Community Service broadcasting for the Christmas Charity Radio Cracker and helping out at the town’s soup kitchen.
The award also requires improvement in a skill based subject and physical activity.
Jacob has been a member of the Boys Brigade at Rugby Baptist Church for 12 years and now joins a long list of young men from the 1st Rugby Company who have received this prestigious award and remains a valued member of the leadership team.
The celebrations continued afterwards at the Brigades Family day where over a 120 boys and parents enjoyed a fun afternoon.
