The bright idea of sisters Kate James and Alex Woodcock found fame on BBC2’s The Restaurant Man as presenter Russell Norman helped them on their way and encouraged the idea of the signature quiches.

From day one it was a runaway success and queuing for a table became part of the fun but the quiches, the breakfasts, in fact the whole menu made it worth the effort.

But all this activity was taking place on the ground floor of Kate’s family home and now she and her family have decided they need to reclaim it.

Word of the impending closure was circulating last week but now in a Facebook post this morning Kate and Dan have confirmed The Nook will close at the end of business on Saturday, May 21 – leaving a massive gap for a permanent cafe in the centre of Dunchurch and a massive gap in the diets of Nook fans everywhere.

In the post the couple said: “It’s time to put our two young children first again.

“It has been a fanatstic journey and something we are immensely proud of but family has to come first.

“We have looked into all the options available but we feel the best thing for us is to move back into our lovely house and make it a home again.

“Thanks a million, you have all been lovely and we will miss you.”
