Raising funds to refurbish Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital

MORE than £2,000 has already been raised for Leamington Rehabilitation Hospital as its fundraising appeal gets underway - but more support is needed.

A patient was the first to contribute to the appeal, which is aiming to raise £235,000 to pay for improvements at the hospital.

Steve Harcourt, who suffered a traumatic brain injury two years ago, came out of a seven-week coma and is now receiving ongoing rehabilitation treatment. He, his mother Jackie and brother Joe completed a four-mile sponsored swim and raised £1,891 for the hospital.

Warwickshire Symphony Orchestra then held a collection at their first concert of the season, which raised £191 and was held in honour of principal double bass player Nick Welch, who had suffered a stroke during a rehearsal and has since been a patient at the hospital.
