People in Rugby will have the rare chance of travelling by steam along the spectacular Cumbrian Coast Line when The Cathedrals Express calls at Rugby on October 1.
The train will depart at approximately 8.25am and will be diesel-hauled as far as Carnforth, where 6115 Scots Guardsman will take over.
The steam locomotive will be put through its paces as it skirts the edge of The Lake District and passes through the famous Cumbrian Fells before reaching Carlisle.
Trip organisers say an early evening departure will ensure passengers are treated to some magnificent cliff-edge views as Scots Guardsman makes its way south along the Cumbrian Coast.
Steam Dreams’ Chairman, Marcus Robertson said: “The homeward journey will undoubtedly be the ‘show-stopper’ of this fabulous day out.”
