Red Devils will be at Heroes FestivalRed Arrows

THE Parachute Regiment Red Devils will be descending on this year’s Rugby for Heroes Festival, hosted by Old Leamingtonians Rugby Football Club (OLRFC).

The festival will take place on May 18-20, and is raising money for forces related charities, including Help For Heroes and 353, a ‘not for profit’ cause set up by the family of Private Conrad Lewis, a Warwick soldier who was killed in Afghanistan last year.

This will be the fourth year running that OLRFC have hosted the festival, and they have raised more than £10,000 for charities during the last three years.

Writer and broadcaster Monty Halls will be at the event, showing his support and joining in with the rugby.

Glenn Rayner, general manager of The Warwickshire Golf and Country Club, who are the official sponsor of this year’s festival, said: “The Rugby for Heroes weekend is a fantastic local event raising money for some very important causes and at the same time creating a weekend of great entertainment.

“We are delighted to be the main sponsor for the 2012 event and are looking forward to joining in the fun”.

The festival will kick off on Friday May 18 with a real ale festival and live performances by local bands.

There will be various rugby tournaments over the weekend including mini rugby for U7/U8, girls tag rugby, mixed touch rugby and men’s, veterans’ and ladies’ 10s rugby tournaments, featuring guest appearances from military teams.

The display from the Parachute Regiment Red Devils will take place Saturday evening, weather permitting.

There will also be a Remembrance service held each day, led by the Warwick Branch of the Royal British Legion.

The festival will also feature charity and rugby stalls, current and historic military vehicle and motorcycle displays and a fantastic camp site.
