A RUGBY man who had ‘sexual activity’ with a 14-year-old girl and tried to rape a 15-year-old has been remanded in custody by a judge at Warwick Crown Court.
Matthew Brown, 20, of Yates Avenue, Rugby, had pleaded not guilty at the court in November last year to raping the 14-year-old girl.
He also denied other sexual offences against two more girls, and earlier this year pleaded not guilty to intimidating one of them intending to obstruct the course of justice.
But at a pre-trial review, prosecutor James Dunstan asked for a further charge to be added to the indictment as an alternative to the rape charge. Brown then pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual activity with the 14-year-old girl in February 2009. He also pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a 15-year-old girl in June 2009 and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old in the October of that year.
Judge Trevor Faber adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report.
