Report says County Music Service is outstanding

WARWICKSHIRE County Music Service (CMS) has been described as ‘outstanding’ in a government report.

The department for education’s national review programme involved thorough investigation of all areas service planning and delivery over two days and evidence was collected from lesson observation, discussions with staff and analysis of service documentation.

The report highlights positive feedback received from schools who feel that ‘projects run by the service are of a high quality, and make a difference in schools as well as having an impact on pupils’ personal development’.

Director of the CMS Andrew Atkins said: “To get the most our of the programme we set ourselves ambitious targets as we wanted to really challenge ourselves and introduce robust systems in place for continuous evaluation and improvement.

“I’m so pleased that our efforts were recognised by the report which stated that, over the last three years, the service has made good progress, addressed issues, identified steps to resolve them and improved systems for recording data and evaluation.”
