PARENTS and children are being invited to celebrate a brand new pre-school in West Haddon and have a sneak preview before it officially opens in September.
The leader of Daventry District Council Councillor Chris Millar will be cutting the ribbon to mark the completion of the new building, and there will be a celebratory balloon launch, as well as a special guest appearance by Peppa Pig.
There will also be a quiz, a lucky jar stall, and sweets, cakes and drinks at the event tomorrow (Tuesday) from 3pm to 5pm.
Work started on the new pre-school last year after outgrowing the facilities in the village hall, where they had been based for several years.
Ros Britton, chair of the committee at West Haddon Pre-School, said: “This event is mainly aimed at the children, parents and staff of the pre-school and primary school who have seen it being built over the last eight months so they can have a look round at last.
“From September the new pre-school will be open from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday, which is almost double what we do now, so it will hopefully make a big difference to families living in the area.”
The new building was partly funded by a £10,000 grant from Daventry District Council – money that has come from a reduction of the council tax discount on second homes from 50 per cent to 10 per cent across the county and has been redistributed on local community projects.
Cllr Chris Millar said: “I’m delighted to be invited to cut the ribbon to mark the completion of work on the new pre-school.
“The event has a wide range of activities for all the family and will provide a fantastic opportunity to have a sneak preview before the new school year starts in September.”
