Rising waters keep up the misery around Rugby

The floods hit the Rugby area hard yesterday, Wednesday, morning but the misery continued into the evening as water levels rose in swoollen rivers and continued into today.

Elliott’s Field, Tesco, Boughton Road and other places around the north of the town were hit as the night wore on.

In the surrounding area problems continued into today, with some of the usual problem spots causing problems – the A428 was closed at Bretford bridge and nearby Wolston was affected.

Emergency services and the borough council continued to send out messages asking people to take care and not to attempt to drive through flooded roads after a string of call-outs to motorists who had attempted to get through and failed.

After the chaos on the railways yesterday when London Midland stopped services between Rugby and Milton Keynes , and Virgin ran a reduced service, things have got back to normal today.
