The team behind the well-known Lakefest event in Herefordshire has booked the school for a new event, Down on The Close – A Festival in a Night, on Saturday, August 26.

It will feature a line-up of four acts, Imelda May, Wilko Johnson, Toploader and the Roving Crows.

And the message from the organisers is: “There’s no need to bring a tent, as four crowd-pleasing acts will all take to the stage on the same night.”

Imelda May has been one of the brightest stars of the music scene in recent years and is an ideal choice for the event as her band includes bass player Al Gare, from Rugby and a former Harris pupil.

Wilko Johnson was part of the glory days of Dr Feelgood when their Canvey Island, pub-rock sound paved the way for punk and has forged out a solo career since.

In recent years he has made headlines for his remarkable recovery from what appeared to be a terminal illness.
