Round-up of firework and bonfire extravaganzas around Rugby

AN EXPLOSIVE weekend is expected at lots of exciting fireworks displays in and around Rugby.

The main town display will once again take place at Whitehall Recreation Ground on Saturday.

There will be fireworks, live music and entertainment including a performance from Neighbours TV star Sam Clark, boy band Juice and Rugby band White Men Can’t Funk. Gates open at 6pm and the display starts at 7.30pm. Entry £3.

Other events include:

*Friday: 7th Rugby (Bilton) Scout Group, Alwyn Road Recreation Ground, Bilton, 8pm. Entry £5 on the evening or in advance £4 adults, £3 children and a family of five £15. Tickets: 07979 851150.

*Friday: Brownsover Hotel, Rugby, 6-10pm. Winter barbecue and market stalls. Entry £10 adults, children under 16 £5, family £25. All proceeds to the air ambulance.

*Friday: Chequers at Swinford, 7pm. Entry £3.40 adults, £2.50, family of four £10.

*Saturday: Old Laurentian RFC, Fenley Field, Lime Tree Avenue, 7pm. Entry £3 adults, £1 children.

*Saturday: Avon Mill Pub, 7.30pm. Free admission.

*Saturday: Old Royal Oak pub (Hungry Horse), 8pm. Free admission.

*Sunday: Olde Coach House, Ashby St Ledgers. Festivities starts at 4pm, fireworks at 7pm. Free admission.
