The Royal British Legion led a parage through Rugby town centre today to mark the launch of the annual poppy appeal.

The parade began at 10.15am from the clock tower, proceeding to Caldecott Park, where the appeal launch was marked by a Field of Remembrance.

Schoolchildren then performed music and drama in the park.

The Rugby branch of the Royal British Legion will run a stall in the Clock Towers shopping centre from Monday for two weeks.

Members will sell poppies, wreaths and buttonholes.

Last year’s appeal raised £20,000 in Rugby.
