A barber in Rugby has given a cut of funds to help a theatre group who are performing a gruesome play next week.

Matt Robinson, owner of Mister Robinson’s Barbershop in Church Street, has once again supported Five Star Entertainment.

They are performing Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - at the Benn Hall from April 14 - 16.

Ethan Smith set up Five Star Entertainment and the first shows took place in his back garden.

He said: “We’ve been running for eight years now and it’s really rewarding that other local businesses are recognising and collaborating on our engagement with the community.

“We’ve come a long way since the first shows in my back garden! We have grown bigger and bigger every year.”

Ethan said the people of Rugby have been very supportive since the launch.

“Mr Robinson is a man who cares and supports our company and cause a great deal more,” he added.

“He has just donated a great deal of money to support our company and our shows.”

Organisers thought it would be good to get their favourite barber involved to tie in with the theme.

Mr Robinson said: “No matter if it was ‘Sweeney Todd’ or ‘Mary Poppins’, I’d support them and what they’re doing.”

Brutal and macabre, Sweeney Todd deliberately turns its back on the sentimental feelgood world of musical comedy.
