GOOD sport Cllr Craig Humphrey bravely volunteered to become an easy target for anyone who fancied throwing something at him.
Cllr Humphrey, leader of Rugby Borough Council, spent around five hours on and off with his friend Craig Smith taking turns to go into the stocks at a royal wedding party at the Malt Shovel in Ryton.
Visitors were invited to pay a donation in return for throwing three wet sponges at him.
Some even took the liberty of throwing the whole bucket of water over his head.
But it was all for a good cause and the two men raised around £300 for Motor Neurone Disease Association. Cllr Humprey’s mother has been diagnosed with the disease, while Mr Smith lost his father to the illness last year.
Cllr Humphrey said: “It was good fun but I was very cold afterwards.”
