X Factor finalists Kingsland Road will be performing and switching on Rugby town centre’s Christmas lights on Sunday (November 24).

The festive fun, organised by Rugby First in partnership with Rugby Borough Council, starting at 10.30am and finishing around 5pm, will also see music, a food fayre, fireworks, arts and crafts, funfair and live reindeers in the town centre as the countdown to Christmas begins.

Kingsland Road - including Connor who comes from Rugby - will be on the Rugby FM stage from 4.40pm, where they will entertaing crowds with some of their tracks, before switching on the Christmas lights at 5pm.

Former Bilton High pupil Joe (Connor) Conaboy said: “It’s great to be turning on the Christmas lights and performing in Rugby, especially as it is my home town and there will be friends and family there.”

The boys visited Rugby together for the first time on Thursday when they took part in a charity car wash after being voted off the show two weeks ago.

Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First Managing Director said: “It’s fantastic that Kingsland Road will be turning on the Christmas lights, especially as Connor Conaboy, one of the band members, is from Cawston. The light-switch on was already going to be very special but having Kingsland Road there really is the icing on the Christmas cake for us and the boys get a big yes from us!”

At 4pm Kingsland Road will be meeting competition winners via Rugby FM.

Tony Spencer, Manager of the Clock Towers Shopping Centre said: “We’re really excited to be hosting a meet and greet with Kingsland Road within the shopping centre.

“As spaces are limited for this exciting opportunity please make sure you check the Rugby FM website for details on how to win and listen in to Jason Moss every morning this week.”
