Rugby Christmas Lights Switch-On 2018: here's everything you need to know

The festive season is now upon as, and Rugby is about to get into the spirit with the switch-on of the Christmas Lights for 2018.

The annual light switch-on is organised by Rugby First and Rugby Borough Council in partnership with Rugby FM

Here’s everything you need to know about the Rugby Christmas Lights Switch-On 2018:

What are the timings on the night?

The switch on event runs from noon to 5pm on Sunday, November 18.

There will also be a funfair on the North Street car park on Saturday, November 17, from 12 to 8pm as well as on the Sunday.

What’s the ticket situation?

The event is free.

Who is switching on Rugby's Christmas lights?

This year the town's light's will be switched on by X-Factor winner Matt Terry.

Matt, said: “I always get the warmest of welcomes whenever I get to perform in the Midlands, so I’m very excited about meeting my fans in Rugby. There’s something very special about Christmas and I’m ready to kick off the festival season in style on November 18.”

Aftab Gaffar, Rugby First Managing Director, said: “We are really excited to have Matt perform and switch on the lights in Rugby town centre this year.

"The annual event is always very well-attended and generates significant footfall and trade for town centre businesses.

“This year we have increased the number of attractions and spread the event across other areas of the town centre which will mean a better overall experience for visitors but will also benefit businesses in those new areas.”

As well as watching Matt perform on stage visitors can also enjoy fairground rides, Santa’s Grotto, a Christmas market, children’s entertainment, a petting zoo and a spectacular firework display – some fantastic entertainment for all the family.

As well as Matt the main stage will also have a great line up of music including Rugby Rock Choir, Christmas carols, Rugby Salvation Army Band, Kieron Taylour, Clifton-Upon-Dunsmore School Choir and Stupid Boots – all guaranteed to get you into the festive spirit!
