Rugby College student Macaulay Horsley is officially the best at bricklaying in the West Midlands after winning the regional Guild of Bricklayers senior competition.

Macaulay, 20, is currently studying for his Level 3 Brickwork at Rugby College and is an apprentice at Manor House Builders in Kenilworth.

He beat off competitors from other West Midlands
colleges to lift the trophy at the competition, which took
place on home turf at Rugby College.

For winning the competition, Macaulay received a trophy and shield from President of the Guild of Bricklayers, James Howe, as well as equipment. He will go on to represent the West Midlands in the national final, which takes place in Devon in June.

He said: “It’s my first competition so I didn’t think I’d win, but I’m really pleased to have done it!
