RESIDENTS and communities who could be affected by a proposed new Rugby and Daventry Crematorium and new cemetery are being invited to a drop-in event ON Tuesday (July 12).

The proposed crematorium and cemetery would be located off Ashlawn Road, adjacent to the Great Central Way, and the drop-in event will be held next to the site at St Andrews’ Rugby Club.

It will run from 3pm - 7pm, and will give communities the opportunity to Find out more about the project, see the proposals produced to date, speak directly with the project team, including officers from Rugby Borough Council and Daventry District Council and give any comments on the proposals.

The plans for a new crematorium and cemetery are being drawn up jointly by Rugby Borough Council and Daventry District Council, as there is a need for a crematorium within these areas.

It follows a Rugby Borough Council study which found that there was both a community need and a viable business case for such a facility.

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Rugby Borough Council later this summer.
