THERE’S over a week left of the 2012 Rugby Festival of Culture to go, and one of its biggest events takes place on Sunday – the Picnic in the Park.

It’s billed as a great opportunity to soak up some great music (and hopefully some sunshine) in the beautiful surroundings of Caldecott park. The event gets underway on Sunday at 1.30pm with a puppet performance before Rugby FM DJs welcome a variety of acts to the stage including Rugby Choir Idol winners Bawnmore Infants School Choir (2.10pm), Bilton Silver Band (2.30pm), County Music Service’s Glee Kids 3pm), Ju Ju Beat (3.30pm), Lawrence Sheriff School Band (4pm), St Matthews Academy of Irish Dancing (4.30pm) and finally headline act Soul Sensations at 5.10pm. Guests are invited to bring along a picnic.

There’s still an impressive array of events planned for today, tomorrow (Friday) and all next week, featuring music, art, beer festivals, dancing, exhibitions and much more. It’s not too late to get involved: pick up a festival guide free from the Advertiser’s reception or Rugby Visitors Centre at the library.
