Automotive Insulations Ltd pulled off an amazing treble at this year’s Rugby Advertiser Business Excellence Awards.

The Rugby company, which specialises in solving noise problems across the automotive industry, won three awards - Green Company of the Year, Innovator of the Year and the evening’s top honour, Business of the Year 2013.

A total of 11 awards were handed out at the sell-out black tie event held at Dunchurch Park Hotel on Friday night. The night, organised by the Rugby Advertiser with principal sponsor Cemex, also celebrated the event’s 15th year which has seen it become a firm fixture in Rugby’s business calendar. And to mark 15 years of continued success, a new category was added this year - Long-Standing Business - which was won by Klickers Hair Salon.

Guests at the awards night enjoyed a Pimms reception, followed by a three-course meal, cabaret from top ventriloquist and comedian Paul Zurdin, music from Take @ That and of course the awards ceremony itself.

Taking part in the awards for the first time, Automotive Solutions Ltd were delighted to have won all three categories they entered. Managing director Jim Griffin: “We’re ecstatic. We employ 125 people and it’s great for everybody.

“The company has been in Rugby 16 years and we bought it in 2006. This is the first time we have felt at the right point to enter the awards.

“There’s only a few of the guys here, but it’s great to say to them this is what they have achieved. The awards are an excellent way of showing where we are and where we are going. The evening has been very enjoyable - fantastic food, great entertainment with the ventriloquist and Take @ That and great people. We will be back next year.”

The category winners in full were: Abraxas (Town Centre Outlet of the Year); Edward Knight Estate Agents (Business Newcomer); Automotive Insulations Ltd (Innovator of the Year); Military Fitness Circuits (Small Business of the Year); Martin and Co (Customer Care Award); Julie Treacy (Employee of the Year); The Fragrance Shop (Team of the Year); March Hair (Best Marketing or Promotional Campaign); Automotive Insulations (Green Company of the Year); Klickers Hair Salon (Long Standing Business); Automotive Insulation Ltd (Business of the Year).

Once again the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was the chosen charity for the night, with more than £2,700 being raised from a raffle and auction of prizes generously donated by local businesses.

Sarah Wakeman, fundraising manager for the air ambulance, said: “I am delighted with the support from the Rugby Advertiser and the generosity of local businesses in helping us to keep the air ambulance flying.”

Event organiser Ginny Hunter of the Rugby Advertiser said the evening was a tremendous success.

“We would like to thank everyone who took the time and effort to enter this year’s awards and to those who came to the ceremony on Friday.

“The hard work commitment put into all the entries is a true reflection of the fantastic business community of Rugby and each and everyone of them deserves our praise.”

“Again our thanks go to the awards sponsors for continued support, without which the event wouldn’t happen.

“Each year we are challenged to make the business awards better than the previous one and feedback so far suggests we have managed that once again.”
