The fun will kick off at noon and include fireworks, Santa’s Grotto, a Christmas market, music, family entertainment and much more.

In addition to Union J switching on the lights after 5pm, schools will once again take part in this year’s Choir Idol competition.

There will be also be live music from local heroes The Rattletones, a special Christmas show performed by the Pauline Quirke Academy and dancing from Jaide’s Stage Studios.

There will also be the fairground, Ferris wheel, bouncy castle, balloon modelling, circus workshop, face painting, Punch and Judy, and the firework display to finish.

Rugby First managing director Aftab Gaffar said: “The Christmas light switch-on is always very popular and increases town centre footfall at what is a very important time of the year for local retailers.

“We are keen that people shop local and support their town centre while at the same time having a great day out.”

The event is organised by Rugby First and Rugby Borough Council, in partnership with Rugby FM,

Following the fireworks, music fans are in for a double treat when Union J and Henry Gallagher will be appearing at the Benn Hall.

Union J will perform their up close and personal show and will be supported by Henry Gallagher who finished in a coveted third place on UK’s Britain’s Got Talent TV Show.
