Dancers from Rugby have been showing off their skills after years of hard work and dedication.

The Christine Anderson Theatre School pupils made it to the All England Dance Finals in London and have been battling it out with other top performers.

They are Evie Bibb, 9, Megan Gyles, 9, Grace Taylor, 12 and Sophie Howes, 14.

Evie and Megan competed with a modern duet, Megan with a modern solo, Grace with a national solo and Sophie with a modern solo on Saturday. Sophie’s mother Elizabeth Howes said: “It really is quite an achievement to make it to the competition and the girls have done really well.

“The dancers compete at local festivals where they attempt to obtain a mark which will qualify them for one of five regional finals. These dancers qualified and competed in the West of England regional final in Cheltenham in May and were successful in getting through to the finals at the Hackney Empire Theatre in London running until August 2.”

There are a number of categories including ballet, character, national, tap, modern and contemporary dance.

All England Dance is an organisation dedicated to giving young amateur dancers an opportunity to perform and use their talent.

They hold a biennial competition, which runs over two years.
