Rugby MP Mark Pawsey was the first person to have a go on the exciting new play equipment in Binley Woods.
He officially launched the long-awaited park, in Craven Avenue, by flying down the zip wire (pictured).
The idea for the play area came from a Parish Plan Projectg, which included a questionnaire being sent to every household.
Chair of the council, Cllr Paul Salisbury, is delighted the project is finally complete, and the area is now being fully used. He said: “It is great to see our vision and the wishes of the children become reality.
“We are extremely grateful for the £50,000 funding that WREN provided, and we look forward to seeing the children of the village getting great and lasting pleasure from the equipment.
Mr Pawsey, who is from Binley Woods, said: “Not many parish councils have the thought and wisdom to allow children to have an input into the design of an area for them.
“This new play area is fantastic for the local families of Binley Woods.”
