The Pakistani Welfare Association of Rugby has spoken out against the murder of soldier Lee Rigby earlier this month.

Zulfiqar Ali, secretary of the group, said the perpetrators were “not Muslim”.

He added: “We strongly condemn the killing and offer our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim. The people who did this are not Muslim – in fact they are not even human. They’re dangerous criminals driven by a sense of purpose and narrative that have no place in any religion, race or in any civilised society.”

Tributes have also been left for Drummer Lee Rigby at the war memorial gates in Hillmorton Road.
