Rugby Rotary's Young Photographer of the Year competition winners are simply the best!

They said the standard of entries for this year’s competition, run by the three Rotary clubs in Rugby and supported by the Rugby Advertiser, was exceptionally high.

Each contestant was tasked to send in three A4 photographs portraying their own interpretation of the theme ‘Our World is Beautiful’ along with a small description of what inspired them to take the photograph.

Overall there were 39 entries from schools across Rugby.

Judges included Rugby Advertiser photographer Mike Baker and Dunchurch Photographic Society.

The winners are: Junior - Carina Vale, 8, who attends Paddox Primary School with her entry, ‘Sunrise’.

Intermediate - Alistair Brown, 12, who attends Rugby School, with ‘Turkey Coast’

Senior - Emma Payne, 17, from Ashlawn School, ‘Trek’.

Each winner was presented with £25 cash and a certificate and will automatically go through to the district final.

All other entrants received a certificate of merit on behalf of the three Rotary Clubs in Rugby.

Terri Morgan, assistant district governor, from Rotary Club of Rugby Saturday Breakfast and competition organiser, said: “The standard of all the entries were exceptional and it was very difficult to select winners.

“I was so impressed with their work I am arranging an exhibition of all the entries at St. Andrew’s Church, in the town centre week commencing April 11 for all to see.

“I would encourage as many people as possible to come and view the talent of these young people. I would also like to thank, Dunchurch Photographic Society, Nicola Seadon, from Ashlawn School, and The Advertiser for all their support in helping to complete the competition.”
