Rugby shopkeeper assaulted with jar and threatened with wooden implement

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a shopkeeper was assaulted whilst he was working in on Church Street in Rugby on Tuesday October 28 at 6.40pm.

The 30-year-old man was alone in the store, which the police have not named, when three white men entered. The men approached the counter and became involved in an altercation with him. One of the men swung a wooden implement at the staff member several times, and another picked up a jar and threw it at his head.

The three men then left the shop and turned left in the direction of Railway Terrace.

The victim was treated at University Hospital, Coventry for serious injuries.
