A student from Rugby is hoping to be the next big thing in fashion after success at her graduate show.
Wanessa Leite, aged 22, will graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University with BA (Hons) in Fashion Design and Technology this summer.
The graduates’ show took place at Hallé St Peters, in Ancoats, Manchester, which ordinarily provides rehearsal space for the renowned Hallé Orchestra.
Wanessa said: “It was really good fun being able to showcase my work.
“My collection is traditional without nostalgia.
“I wanted to make things that are good for now and for tomorrow.”
This is the first time that students from the course have had the opportunity to show their end-of-year designs on the catwalk.
Recently, students from the department took part in a ‘flashmob’ event to highlight the anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster, when structural failure caused a building to collapse in Bangladesh in 2013.
Alison Welsh, Head of the Department of Apparel at MMU said: “This year’s Fashion Design and Technology graduates demonstrated an enormous amount of talent and skill.”
