Train customers from Rugby can now have their tickets delivered straight to their smartphones.
Trainline has announced that customers along the Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston route will for the first time be able to use a smartphone based digital ticketing system, mTicketing (mobile ticketing), at every station.
This means that for the first time flexible and on-the-day tickets will be available as mTickets on this route via the Trainline app.
Customers can now use mTicketing on all journeys between any two of the stations from: Watford Junction, Rugby, Tamworth, Lichfield Trent Valley, Stoke on Trent, Macclesfield, Stockport, Stafford, Crewe, Wilmslow, Nuneaton, Milton Keynes Central and Manchester Piccadilly – all the stations along the existing Manchester to Euston route.
Clare Gilmartin, CEO of Trainline, said: “Response to mobile ticketing has been very positive and it’s something the whole industry is working on together to promote a smarter and more efficient experience for train travellers.
“For travel directly between Manchester and Euston, where we already have mobile ticketing available, 77 per cent of customers are choosing to travel using mobile tickets when booked through the Trainline app.
“By bringing this new service to all stations on the line, thousands more train travellers every month will have access to mobile ticketing, allowing them to skip the queues at train stations or collection points each morning by simply presenting their smartphone at the barriers.”
Trainline customers can purchase tickets in advance or on the day at trainline.com or on the mobile app, and present their smartphone mTicket at all stations on the route, without having to collect a physical ticket from the station.
