POLICE are hunting for a gang of men who forced their way into a Rugby home during an aggravated burglary.

The gang of three white men got into the house in Aqua Place on Monday afternoon just before 3.30pm.

They scaled a six foot garden wall and then climbed onto the roof of a conservatory in order to access an open window.

Once inside they ransacked the upstairs rooms before being disturbed by the people in the house.

One of the burglars took the gold bracelets and earrings that a female, who was in the house, was wearing, before she and her grandson were ordered to stay in one of the rooms while the gang continued to search the property.

After the gang had left the house the occupiers found a quantity of jewellery, money, three new computers and two ornamental swords had been taken.

The burglars left the house via a downstairs window at the front of the house.

Although badly shocked by their experience the woman and her young grandson were not physically injured in the incident.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Police in the Acquisitive Crime Team at Rugby would like to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual in the area around 3pm on Monday. In particular they would like to hear from anyone who saw three males getting into a vehicle, possibly a BMW.”

Anyone with any information should contact PC Mark Roberts at Rugby Police Station on 01788 541111 extension 6119 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where the information can be given anonymously.
