Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault which occurred on Arnold Street in Rugby shortly after 7am yesterday (Sunday)

The offender, who was known to the victim, forced entry in to her home, before chasing her into the street and assaulting her. He then made off along Arnold Street in the direction of Bath Street. The woman sustained minor injuries.

Ryan Wrighton, 23, of Newbold Road in Rugby, was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been charged with possession of a bladed weapon, criminal damage and assault causing actual bodily harm. He has been released on bail and is due to appear before magistrates in Leamington on Wednesday November 26.

Police are keen to trace anyone who may have witnessed the incident, particularly the drivers and passengers of a red Jeep-type vehicle and a silver hatchback-type vehicle seen in the area at the time.
