The man himself may be busy at this time of year, but hundreds of impersonators gave up their Sunday to take part in the third Santa Fun Run.

The annual event is organised by the Rotary Club of Rugby and the Rugby & Northampton Athletic Club.

Starting at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre, the event, sponsored by building merchant Nicholls, featured a one-mile run for juniors and a 5km run for all.

About 280 participants assembled dressed in beards and Santa-style red robes.

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey was among those who completed the course.

Proceeds will go to charities including Myton Hospice and the Bradby Club.
