School gets silver science award

SOUTHAM Primary School has been awarded for its efforts in teaching science to its pupils.

The school, in St James Road, has achieved a Silver Primary Science Quality Mark which celebrates the quality of science teaching and learning in primary schools.

Schools can achieve grades ranging from bronze to gold.

The awards are achieved over the course of a year through an initial auditfollowed by action and reflection.

The award scheme was launched in January 2010 and has involved 229 schools across England and in British Forces schools in Germany.

Nationally 138 awards were given out this year.
