Dozens of homes could be built in Dunchurch if plans put forward by Bilton Grange School are approved.

The school’s governors have applied for ‘outline planning permission’, which if granted would mean development on the site is possible in principle.

The land is between Rugby Road and Homefield Lane, opposite the school. The planning application was submitted to Rugby Borough Council last week.

All parents of children at the school have been consulted about the proposal, as have various neighbours. Sworders, the planning consultant hired by the school, states that changes have been made to the scheme as a result, with the development being “low density” and built following a “traditional design”.

The development would comprise 50 houses, of a mixture of two and three storeys.

The borough council will decide in the next few months whether to grant permission for the outline proposals.
