Scouts get media savvy ahead of Japan trip
Holly Smedley, of Rugby, and Dillan Lang, of Leamington, visited the Youlbury Scout Activity Centre in Oxfordshire at the weekend with 50 other young people from all over the UK to learn how to talk about their scouting experience.
They were joined by experts from the media industry who tutored them in the tricks of the trade before placing them in real-life TV and radio interview situations.

“It’s been a really good way to boost my confidence. The best thing that’s happened to me this weekend is meeting so many new people: it’s given me loads more confidence and in Japan I think I will be comfortable approaching people from all over the world to make new friends.”
Holly and Dillan will take these skills to the other side of the world to Japan for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in July 2015.
The Jamboree is a celebration of Scouting with young people from 216 other countries and territories across the world.
