Sea shanties and treasure maps

TWO-YEAR-OLD Sammy Cook certainly liked the sound of Pirates’ Day at the Warwick library when he was told all about it during a visit with his mum on Tuesday.

Library assistants Jackie Prendagast and Andrew Dobbs will be dressing up ready to welcome babies and toddlers to the library in Shire Hall from 10.30am tomorrow (Sat) when there will be a treasure trail and plenty of jolly sea shanties to sing and stories to enjoy.

Jackie said: “Junior pirates big enough to walk can even try walking our plank and older ones can have treasure map.”

Dressing up for the free one- hour session is purely optional.

Similar sessions are taking place in the main Leamington library tomorrow at 2.30pm and in Kenilworth, also at 10.30am.

All youngsters must be accompanied by an adult but older brothers and sisters up to the age of six will be welcome to join in the fun.

● On February 16 (Saturday) in the nearby Market Hall Museum, staff are celebrating the return of the 16th century Sheldon Tapestry from the British Museum with a children’s weaving workshop led by artist Emma Price.
