ESTATE agent Sean Newman is fighting fit and raring to go on his next cycling challenge around the UK.
Sean, owner of Newman Estate Agents in Regent Street, will begin a 3,000-mile bike ride round the coast of the UK on Saturday.
He is taking on the challenge to help raise £100,000 for homelessness charities.
Sean said: “So far £23,000 has been raised and we need more sponsorship to reach our target.
“The average life expectancy of a homeless person in the UK is 43. So if you are fortunate to have a roof over your head, please spare a thought for those less fortunate and join us for on the ride or make a donation. Every penny is appreciated. ”
The coastal cycle ride is the first major challenge that Sean has taken on since a horrific accident in the USA in July 2010.
Sean was cycling from one side of America to another for charity when he was hit by a truck, leaving him with multiple injuries in hospital. When he was flown back to the UK he was wheelchair-bound but two years on he has made a full recovery.
The UK bike ride is being sponsored by the property web site Zoopla, which has provided a support vehicle for the 32-day challenge.
Sean will be doing the bike ride with Jon Cooke from Intercountry Estate Agents. They will be joined by various property professionals from round the UK who will be sponsoring a leg and cycling various sections with Jon and Sean.
They will cycle through many coastal towns including Plymouth, Great Yarmouth and Whitby.
Sean aims to finish the bike ride on Tuesday, August 28 and the following day he plans to sleep rough in Rugby.
He will be joining a number of volunteers for Sleep Out - To Help Out to help raise even more money and awareness of the homeless.
