Serenade for summer in aid of church spire

CHORAL medleys from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and the Yeoman of the Guard will be performed in St Nicholas’ church, Warwick, tomorrow night (May 12).

Members of the congregation are raising money for vital restoration work on their church spire, which dates back to the 1700s, and has developed a major crack.

As part of their Spire Appeal they have invited members of Wellesbourne Choral Society to perform at a Serenade for Summer, starting at 7.30pm.

The choir’s musical director, Margaret Cox, is giving their services free of charge so that the cost of the £8 tickets, including light refreshments, can go towards the remaining £48,000 of what was originally a £234,000 appeal.

St Nicholas, right opposite the front door of Warwick Castle, is well known for its bright, reverberant acoustics, and has always been a popular venue for rehearsals, performances and recordings.

Tickets are available at the door or ring 07896 594046.
