Shakespeare role for bright young talent

THE energy and creative spirit of a Leamington schoolboy impressed a national theatre company so much that it has offered him a part in a show.

Charlie Blackwood, 13, who lives in Kenilworth, will perform in the Youth Music Theatre UK’s production of Macbeth at the Wilde Theatre in Bracknell next
weekend, before transferring to a London stage in October.

He will be given a part in a reworking of the ‘Scottish Play’, which has been set in modern day Britain during the riots of summer 2011.

The letter he received inviting him to perform in the show stated that he was chosen “because you impressed us with your openness, energy and creative spirit, as well as your vocal and physical skills”.

Arnold Lodge headmaster David Williams said: “We are delighted for Charlie and wish him all the very best for his rehearsals and performances.”
